Muireann Seoighe Ní hEachthighearn (Mo) is a composer, artist and musician. Growing up, surrounded by the comforting presence of the Comeragh and Knockmealdown mountains, she draws her creative inspiration from the beauty of nature, human experiences and that which can 'catch the heart of guard and blow it open'. She is currently studying to become a violin and cello maker.

Of the work featured here, Murireann says:

‘I heard someone talking about how they reckon the landscape where we live or grew up is sometimes mirrored within us. I never really knew the depth to which my home place in rural, mountainous Tipperary has informed my personality, and how important it has been as the soil from which I develop and grow. My work is my way of understanding my surroundings and my existence within them. I have moved away from Tipp many times, however, I am now here for a longer stretch of time. I can feel my roots taking place in this familiar soil again, giving me the nutrients I was lacking in order to germinate and bloom. My poem ‘The Road Outside Of The House’ is my acknowledgment of that potential for growth, and my way to honour the unique relationship I have with the countryside that I grew up in.’
