Anna has been working in the Third Sector for over twenty years. She is as highly motivated by the incredible work charities do as she is by the immersive experience of her own artwork and writing. In the 1980’s, Anna studied Fine Art and Mixed Media at the Byam Shaw School of Art. Her final year show included handmade books of her poetry and illustrations. She now makes short art films as well using photography, collages and writing poetry to express what she calls ‘other worldliness.’ Anna has been featured in previous editions of our é-zine.
Of the poems featured here, Anna says:
‘I wrote this piece for my eldest’s daughters wedding at Firle Place, East Sussex in October last year. Having been asked to read something as in keeping with the ritual of marriage, I found myself visualising the forests near Firle place where I used to take my daughters on little adventures when they were young. I had a beautiful experience writing this poetic story as it seemed to simply reveal itself to me, like the words and imagery had been sent from another world or even the forest itself. One of the sons in law, Hamish Wallace Stephens, is playing his own, recently composed, improvised piano piece to accompany the submission.
