Will Allingham is a 22-year-old aspiring screenwriter who has just graduated Brighton University with a First Class Honours in English Literature & Creative Writing.
You can reach will at: will.fox2000@gmail.com
Will was the inaugural winner of the époque press prize for the Best Creative Dissertation 2022, in conjunction with The University of Brighton.
Of the motivation behind the screen play featured here, Will says:
‘Local legends and tales help to define a community’s sense of place since they are often deeply rooted in the landscape they are born from. At the heart of my folk horror screenplay, Far From Flat, is a community who fear that their loss of land will result in a loss of identity. The way of life in parochial Gasthorpe is under siege from a rural development programme which threatens to urbanise their insular community. But, when folklore collector Jack Mortlock comes to the village, he realises the threat of the outsider is far less menacing than the pagan secrets the community is hiding.’
