Welcome to the 18th edition of the époque press é-zine on the theme, Ritual.

Ritual is often imagined as something ancient, belonging to temples, ceremonies, and the distant past. Yet ritual also lives in the quiet choreography of our lives, in the repeated gestures that shape our days, in the ways we mark beginnings and endings, whether sacred or mundane. This edition of our é-zine turns its attention to ritual not as a relic, but as a living, shifting language that continues to define how we move through the world.

The diversity of mediums we have featured reflect the multiplicity of ritual itself and the works do not simply depict ritual; they enact it, inviting you into an experience rather than a description.

What emerges in this é-zine is not a single definition of ritual, but a collection of perspectives. Some works treat ritual as sacred, others as constructed, others still as something to be questioned or dismantled. There are rituals that heal and rituals that harm, rituals that connect and rituals that isolate. The works featured ask you to reflect on your own relationships to ritual: the practices you inherit, the ones you choose, and the ones you might wish to transform.

We hope you enjoy the work we have featured for you. It takes a lot of caffeine to keep us going in the production of our é-zines, so if you do like what we are doing perhaps you would kindly consider giving us a small caffeine treat via our ‘Buy us a Coffee’ button.
