Ghosts
by Raymond Henshaw

A series of works focusing on Hong Kong residents who live in Belfast. Raymond took them back to Hong Kong for his work focusing on repatriation and included here are two day schemes and two night scenes. The first two images titled Citizens and Ghosts have an ethereal quality to them which makes us question the sense of community, place and belonging. The other two night time scenes are located in Hong Kong and conjure a sense of isolation and the conflicted feelings experienced by immigrants returning to their point of origin.
Raymond’s work has been exhibited throughout Ireland, Europe, Africa, China and USA including, Fenderesky Gallery, Old Museum, Queens University, Belfast, Project Arts Centre, Original Print Gallery, Dublin, Ithaca, New York State, In Bag Factory Johannesburg, University of Cape Town and Free State University Bloemfontein, South Africa, In Cite Des Arte, Paris, Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, Barcelona, and Berlin.
