époque press ezine

Editorial

Welcome to the second edition of the époque press ezine.

We have been truly blown away by the number of submissions we have received and we hope you enjoy the written, visual and musical delights we have selected for you.

Our contributors have all explored the concept of Borders and bring their own unique perspective to the theme. Our lives are shaped, guided and framed by the physical and metaphysical perimeters that surround us. Some borders are constructed, some are just constructs, but the way in which they govern our perception of ourselves and others, and the limitations they enforce upon us, is profound.

In this edition of our ezine we have an exclusive short story by époque press' very own debut author, Luis Carrasco. We are also delighted to be able to feature the paintings of David Fox, the Sky Arts 'Landscape Artist of the Year 2016 semi finalist' who was recently featured in the Irish Times for his Irish Border themed work.

Our regular photography contributor Nick Vagus once again delivers with a series of images from Cape Town, Lisbon, Berlin and Birmingham, capturing the effect of borders on everyday lives. We also have a series of photographs from Raymond Henshaw which focus on the experience of emigration.

We have short stories from David Brennan, Alan McCormick and Lane Shipsey and poetry from Brian Hurley and Lorraine Carey. All of whose work conjures up a sense of borders; both physical and psychological.

And last but by no means least, we are delighted to be able to bring to you two musical compositions. One track by The McGinn Sisters and one by R John Webb, from Rhino and the Ranters. Something to soothe the ears as your eyes feast upon the rest of the content.

Wishing you happy reading, viewing and listening from all at époque press.
